The "Distributed Mangaement" working group within the IETF was responsible for developing a number of management MIBs that would enable managers to have the agents out in the field help take on some of their management tasks. Although the WG has now concluded, its charter is still available for reading.

It produced a number of MIBs that are implemented fully or partially within Net-SNMP:
