Ctrl 7 for setting the volume limit, expression for controlling the volume of an instrument

I would like the possibility to use expression (11) to control the volume of an instrument but it seems the expression controller does not have any effect of an instrument. I notice that if I control Ctrl #7, the volume knob in Carla gets affected, which is not what I want. Instead, I want to set Ctrl7 to the preferred volume which I might refer to this as "ceiling" or "limit" while using Ctrl #11 for controlling the volume of an instrument. Can that be done in 2.0-final?

This is for samples that I load from the sample browser in the left of the rack/patchbay.

In the meantime, I used the stereo amplifier plugin to set the volume limit for my string section, so I do not overload my audio interface due to clipping.
