Thank you for reaching out! The main thing to update is the sensor model here, that should already get you up and running!
One thing to consider is that with too sparse data, e.g. few beams and at long range, reconstruction and thus also motion detection can be impacted. For reasonable ranges also a 16 beam LiDAR should suffice.
