It think the usual location for /etc/default/kibana is /etc/sysconfig/kibana on rpm based distros.

We're using https://github.com/jordansissel/pleaserun for this now, if this is still an issue please open up an issue there.

of "/etc/default/kibana".

This is a standards difference.  rpm based distributions generally
use /etc/sysconfig.  In production we're reading from both, with
sysconfig second to override any historical differences.
