Where to put image files

I'm working on #56 (Improve styling of classes, enums, etc.) and want to change the the icons of classes etc. from just letters to the same icons as in Eclipse RCP.
The question now is where I have to put the images, in the client and or on the server?
Also I've found a way to get a path to the images when they are stored on the server but I haven't succeeded on when they are stored in the client.

After talking to @eneufeld we decided to put the images on the client and load it as background with css.
The CSS class is provided by the server similar how the server provided the letter like 'C' for class before.
