But I don't think the original issue was approved just yet. The original issue was tracking eventual removal, and the suggestion to obsolete these APIs was a "well, here's one way you could consider addressing it." It would need to be part of a larger discussion re: compatibility promises and when we'd want to start ripping this logic out. To be honest I don't expect it to take place this calendar year.

Though the System.Data team is in charge of their own destiny and they can move timelines forward or back as they see fit.

I thought it was going into net50 so would need to be done pretty quickly. As it's not approved yet i'll close.
