v0.0 Alpha Test 1 Pre-release
Pre-release

WARNING:

you will probably need to uninstall this DS plugin after you are done testing since it crashes Daz Studio in almost every situation except for the exact one listed in the instructions below.

This is the first build of Reality-Opensource-DeDRM which makes it all the way to LuxRender GUI and renders a sample scene. That's all it does. If the directions below are not followed exactly, it will probably crash. If the directions are followed, it may or may not start LuxRender and render the scene. Consider this a tech demo.

How to install this "tech demo":

  1. BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL REALITY DS PLUGIN BEFORE INSTALLING THIS ONE.
  2. Download and unzip "Reality-DeDRM-DSPlugin-alpha-test-1.zip" and copy the "Reality" folder into the Daz Studio plugins folder.
  3. Download and unzip "Reality_DeDRM-EXE-alpha-test-1.zip" and copy the "Reality_DS" folder wherever you like.
  4. Download the reality-test-scene-2.duf to use in the instructions below.
  5. Update Registry Key:
5.a. If you have previously installed Reality DS, then open the "Registry Editor" app and go to navigate down to "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\preta3d.com\Reality". Change the Reality_DS_Location registry key to point to where you have the Reality-Opensource-DeDRM-EXE.
5.b. If you have never installed Reality DS, then just start Daz Studio, and during the splash screen, you will get a pop-up menu asking where you have installed the Reality EXE. Choose the folder containing the Reality-Opensource-DeDRM-EXE.
  6. Hopefully, that's it, but you may need to recreate more registry keys if you've never installed Reality DS before....

Warning: This version will definitely crash in most scenarios, except for maybe the one below:

  1. Start Daz Studio
  2. Load "reality-test-scene-2.duf"
  3. Select the Camera node in the Scene Pane.
  4. Use the Viewport window drop-down to select the "Camera" view.
  5. Click Render->Reality Render Editor.
  6. Click the Lights tab, then select "Spotlight".
  7. Click the Cameras tab, then select "Camera".
  8. Click the Render tab and click "Render Frame".
  9. If asked to overwrite the scene file, click "Yes".
