Released 12/2/24, Compatible with vanilla patch 1.14.X

Hyecho was an 8th century Korean Buddhist monk who traveled through much of Asia to go on pilgrimage to India, similar to the more famous Xuanzang a century before him. His travelogue, Memoir of a Pilgrimage to the Five Kingdoms of India, is a valuable source of information on various Asian and Middle Eastern cultures and polities during the early medieval period.

In honor of El Tyranos' newest offering with the West Slavic flavor pack, the RICE 1.14.0.a Hotfix is now out, which includes an update to the RICE+EPE Compatch and various bugfixes, such as fixing Rollo being unplayable if you don't own the Roads to Power DLC.

Check out the Discord Server, Official Website, and Twitter for my mods for more info, updates, and regular teasers.

Installation Instructions

DO NOT manually download the master branch unless you know what you're doing as it is a WIP version and not necessarily stable!

  1. Go to https://github.com/cybrxkhan/RICE-for-CK3/releases and find the latest version you wish to download.
  2. Extract the "RICE" folder and "RICE.mod" file from the .zip file to Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\mod
  3. Launch CKIII and select RICE in the launcher.
  4. Enjoy and play!

The mod folder should look something like this:

NOTE: When re-installing a mod, delete the old version of the mod first before copy and pasting the new one! While it's not always necessary, it's a good habit to do to prevent any potential issues. Additionally, make sure you are not subscribed to the Steam version of the mod, to prevent the launcher from getting confused as to which version to use.

  • Added English placeholder for the Polish language version of CK3 (i.e. if you play in Polish, RICE content will display in English instead of gibberish)
  • Applied West Slavic DLC clothes to Sorbian culture if the DLC is active
  • Updated RICE+EPE compatch to new EPE version
  • Updated bookmark art, especially for landless bookmarks (courtesy of Nezaros, creator of Rajas of Asia)

  • Fixed a few minor non-critical discrepancies between the RICE and RICE+EPE compatch culture code
  • Fixed Asian-American easter egg culture not making use of EPE’s ethnicities and clothing if playing with EPE

Changelog

  • Hellenic pagans now count as the Greek world for the Sicilian struggle

1.12.1.a Hotfix for "Dioscorida" (Released 3/30/24)

Compare
Choose a tag to compare

Released 3/30/24, Compatible with vanilla patch 1.12.X

“Dioscorida [Socotra] is very large but desert and marshy [...] The inhabitants are few and they live on the coast toward the north, which from this side faces the continent. They are foreigners, a mixture of Arabs and Indians and Greeks, who have emigrated to carry on trade there.”
- Periplus of the Erythraean Sea, Greek navigational aid from the 1st century CE

This is a hotfix to address a number of issues and add in a few minor tweaks. I originally was going to fold these into the next big update, but decided it was better to release these now, given they address a number of important bugs, than to wait possibly a month or longer before the release of the RICE's upcoming flagship flavor pack.
