you can install and use npm-audit-resolver, no need to wait for RFC18 to go through, it's already working as a separate package. I'm using it at work to maintain dependencies for over 25 apps.
It's going to change, that's for sure, but current version is fully functional for the purpose of securely ignoring packages and doing so in a more precise way than we used to.
