Open Property Violations Pre Feb 2010, data.kcmo.gov We would like to see over time to help identify problem properties.
Comment: Eric R. Working on it! Should be our highest quality data yet. Also, about 250,000-300,000 observations in the dataset.
Demographic data recent - ethnicity, race, median household income, age, education, owned versus rental, multi-family versus single family, population count and density.
Comment: Eric R. We are trying to assemble this in house but our timeline is 1-2 months out. It’s fairly challenging for us to assemble this data. The Census is where we get our info. We are going to talk with NYC and see how they pull their ACS/Census data. I’m guessing it’s via API.
KIVA This will be a great dataset. We are actively working with Jackson County to create an automatic feed of this data from them to our servers. Data would be available with keys to parcel id and such. We will have all 4 counties worth of data once we get Jackson counties feed built. The Data would come from our Treasury division. You may be able to scrape it via the county APN -> For example > http://maps.jacksongov.org/PropertyReport/propertyReport.cfm?pid=12-940-05-03-00-0-00-000
A list of absentee owners by address - currently they go through KIVA and find properties where the property address does not match the owners address. Buildings might be a way to find, it is a list of buildings, housefacts, last updated September 25, 2014. Contains Building ID, Parcel ID, Building Type, address of building, Lat, Lng, owner name & address.
Population / number of households moving in/out of a neighborhood (census data, property tax data, car registrations, etc.) Most of this would come from the ACS and Census data. Would be super interesting to see this over time. However, neighborhood boundaries shift over time too. Our neighborhood boundaries are presently mapped to census neighborhoods.
Eric R. is check with planning on this but it may be a long-term project.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are 14 counties in the metropolitan Kansas City area. The anchor city for this area is Kansas City, MO. So far most of the data gathered by Code for KC comes from there and from the Unified Government of Wyandotte County on the Kansas side of the state line.

- Olathe, KS -- To make an open records request, contact the City Clerk.
- Independence, MO -- Open data is available through Open Independence. To obtain other public records, either contact the appropriate city office informally or submit an official request to the City Clerk.
Counties in the metro area (in order of population size) are:
- Jackson County, MO -- Information about how to obtain public records in accordance with the state's Sunshine Law is available HERE.
- Johnson County, KS -- Online public datasets are available through the county's Automated Information Mapping System. To make an open recors request, contact the County Manager.
- Clay County, MO -- Information about how to obtain public records in accordance with the state's Sunshine Law is available from the County Administrator.
- Wyandotte County, KS (included in the Unified Government of Wyandotte County) -- See Kansas City, KS listed above.
