Make .dir give correct direction for Module io in compatibility #673

This is a partial solution to #668, it makes .dir correct for Module io and just errors if you try it on unbound types. I still would rather we had support for "resolved direction" so that we didn't regress on the .dir API. Regardless this is an improvement that solves the only uses of .dir that I know about. Most importantly, it's noisy about what isn't supported rather than silently wrong.
