Tools for compiling and uploading software.
Ubuntu 20.04 is used as our build-environment, either installed natively on a machine or via the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL).
For initial setup of the development environment on your machine:
-
Install Ubuntu 20.04, either natively or in WSL. If you're planning on using MATLAB Simulink, I recommend using WSL1 instead of WSL2 so you will have better performance operating in the Windows file system.
-
Download or clone this repository, navigate to it in your WSL or Linux terminal and run bootstrap.sh with sudo permissions.
-
After installation, you may delete this repository
If this is installed in WSL and you're having issues running git on the Windows file system, you can edit or create /etc/wsl.conf in WSL and add:
[automount]
options = "metadata"
Reboot Windows. All of the operations like git, mkdir, etc should now work fine in the Windows drives.
You may need to download udev rules to enable uploading code to the microcontrollers. Donwload the udev rules and copy the file to /etc/udev/rules.d
sudo cp 00-teensy.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/
