Creating calendar with VJOURNAL + VTODO fails if VEVENT also given?

Hey all,

Noticed this odd behavior and want to confirm this is a real issue or just me first. I'm using davx5 version 4.4.1.1-ose, with jtx board version 2.09.00.ose and nextcloud 29.0.3.

I created 5 calendars with the following enabled for testing:

• vevent & vtodo
• vtodo & vjournal
• vevent & vjournal
• only vjournal
• all 3 together

results in davx5 that look wrong:

• "all 3" shows "calendar" and "tasks" enabled in the davx5 UI under the CalDAV calendars list, not showing "journals" at all
• "vtodo & vjournal", "vtodo & vevent", "vevent & vjournal", "vjournal only" all show the expected options enabled from davx5's view

from jtx board's view in "collections":

• "all 3" is only vtodo enabled, notes/journals are "n/a" (unexpected)
• "only vjournal" and "vevent & vjournal" and "vevent & vtodo" have "notes/journal" enabled but tasks as "n/a" (expected)
• "vtodo & vjournal" have notes/journals and tasks available (expected)

Something about the combination of all 3 options at the same time duration calendar creation results in "vjournal" being ignored. But 2 parts individually works

My nextcloud instance is managed but I do have a UI to view SQL schema/select rows from mysql.

• "only vjournal" has only vjournal enabled in SQL (expected)
• "all 3" only shows VEVENT,VTODO (unexpected)
• "vevent & vjournal" only shows VEVENT,VJOURNAL (expected)
• "vevent and vtodo" only shows VEVENT,VTODO (expected)
• "vtodo & vjournal" only shows VTODO,VJOURNAL (expected)

So either

• davx5 is not correctly adding vjournal with this combination OR
• nextcloud is silently failing and davx5 is not feeding any user error back

[Aug 10 edit, realized I didn't remove PII from the log files I attached, removing them for now]

Is this a known issue? I found this issue with nextcloud where they say they do not currently support a UI for vjournal, but I would expect vjournal enabled calendars to still be created. Or at least an error message back. I did not find any open issues for this specific behavior

Update:

I used the mysql UI to run the following:

-- ToDo is my calendar name here
UPDATE oc_calendars
SET components = "VEVENT,VTODO,VJOURNAL"
WHERE displayname = "ToDo";

After doing this and force syncing davx5+jtx board

• davx5 shows "calendar", "tasks", and "journal" all in the CalDAV calendar list UI (expected)
• jtx board shows my ToDo calendar, previously only VEVENT+VTODO enabled, now as VJOURNAL enabled

So if you have SQL access to nextcloud you can workaround this way. I have not tried with a different backend like radicale yet
