SUMMARY

Documentation does not mention Type is always Thin Provision, it is also not mentioned in the relevant API Specification documentation: https://developer.vmware.com/apis/vsphere-automation/latest/vcenter/api/vcenter/vm/vm/hardware/disk/post

Expectation of enterprise customers to ensure data integrity, is to allow control of virtual disk Type:

  • thin
  • thick (as known in vSphere)
  • eagerZeroedThick (as known in vSphere) or preallocated (as known in vCenter)
