blk-cgroup.h pulls in blkdev.h and thus pretty much all the block headers. Break this dependency chain by turning wbc_blkcg_css into a macro and dropping the blk-cgroup.h include. Except for the features passed to blk_queue_required_elevator_features, elevator.h is only needed internally to the block layer. Move the ELEVATOR_F_* definitions to blkdev.h, and the move elevator.h to block/, dropping all the spurious includes outside of that. The scheduler .insert_requests() callback is called when a request is queued for the first time and also when it is requeued. Only count a request the first time it is queued. Additionally, since the mq-deadline scheduler only performs zone locking for requests that have been inserted, skip the zone unlock code for requests that have not been inserted into the mq-deadline scheduler. Check a statistics invariant at module unload time. When running blktests, the invariant is verified every time a request queue is removed and hence is verified at least once per test. Calculating the sum over all CPUs of per-CPU counters frequently is inefficient. Hence switch from per-CPU to individual counters. Three counters are protected by the mq-deadline spinlock since these are only accessed from contexts that already hold that spinlock. The fourth counter is atomic because protecting it with the mq-deadline spinlock would trigger lock contention. In addition to reverting commit 7b05bf7 ("Revert "block/mq-deadline: Prioritize high-priority requests""), this patch uses 'jiffies' instead of ktime_get() in the code for aging lower priority requests. This patch has been tested as follows: Measured QD=1/jobs=1 IOPS for nullb with the mq-deadline scheduler. Result without and with this patch: 555 K IOPS. Measured QD=1/jobs=8 IOPS for nullb with the mq-deadline scheduler. Result without and with this patch: about 380 K IOPS. The original code in commit 24d2f90 ("blk-mq: split out tag initialization, support shared tags") would check tags->rqs is non-NULL and then dereference tags->rqs[]. Then in commit 2af8cbe ("blk-mq: split tag ->rqs[] into two"), we started to dereference tags->static_rqs[], but continued to check non-NULL tags->rqs. Check tags->static_rqs as non-NULL instead, which is more logical. It is a bit confusing that there is BLKDEV_MAX_RQ and MAX_SCHED_RQ, as the name BLKDEV_MAX_RQ would imply the max requests always, which it is not. Rename to BLKDEV_MAX_RQ to BLKDEV_DEFAULT_RQ, matching its usage - that being the default number of requests assigned when allocating a request queue. For shared sbitmap, if the call to blk_mq_tag_update_depth() was successful for any hctx when hctx->sched_tags is not set, then it would be successful for all (due to nature in which blk_mq_tag_update_depth() fails). As such, there is no need to call blk_mq_tag_resize_shared_sbitmap() for each hctx. So relocate the call until after the hctx iteration under the !q->elevator check, which is equivalent (to !hctx->sched_tags). In iavf_shutdown() the adapter state is changed to __IAVF_REMOVE. In ice_shutdown() the call chain above is executed, which at some point calls iavf_remove(). However iavf_remove() expects the VF to be in one of the states __IAVF_RUNNING, __IAVF_DOWN or __IAVF_INIT_FAILED. If that's not the case it sleeps forever. So if iavf_shutdown() gets invoked before iavf_remove() the system will hang indefinitely because the adapter is already in state __IAVF_REMOVE. Fix this by returning from iavf_remove() if the state is __IAVF_REMOVE, as we already went through iavf_shutdown(). In Linux, the above is implemented in the bridge driver using a per-port option called "neigh_suppress" that was added in kernel version 4.15 [2]. Motivation ========== Some applications use ARP messages as keepalives between the application nodes in the network. This works perfectly well when two nodes are connected to the same VTEP. When a node goes down it will stop responding to ARP requests and the other node will notice it immediately. However, when the two nodes are connected to different VTEPs and neighbor suppression is enabled, the local VTEP will reply to ARP requests even after the remote node went down, until certain timers expire and the EVPN control plane decides to withdraw the MAC/IP Advertisement route for the address. Therefore, some users would like to be able to disable neighbor suppression on VLANs where such applications reside and keep it enabled on the rest. Implementation ============== The proposed solution is to allow user space to control neighbor suppression on a per-{Port, VLAN} basis, in a similar fashion to other per-port options that gained per-{Port, VLAN} counterparts such as "mcast_router". This allows users to benefit from the operational simplicity and scalability associated with shared VXLAN devices (i.e., external / collect-metadata mode), while still allowing for per-VLAN/VNI neighbor suppression control. The user interface is extended with a new "neigh_vlan_suppress" bridge port option that allows user space to enable per-{Port, VLAN} neighbor suppression on the bridge port. When enabled, the existing "neigh_suppress" option has no effect and neighbor suppression is controlled using a new "neigh_suppress" VLAN option. vhost_worker will call tun call backs to receive packets. If too many illegal packets arrives, tun_do_read will keep dumping packet contents. When console is enabled, it will costs much more cpu time to dump packet and soft lockup will be detected. net_ratelimit mechanism can be used to limit the dumping rate. The node balancing logic in balance_pgdat() evaluates all zones collectively. If one or more zones (e.g., ZONE_DMA32) have enough free pages to meet their watermarks, the entire node is deemed balanced. This causes balance_pgdat() to exit early before incrementing the kswapd_failures, as it considers the overall memory state acceptable, even though some zones (like ZONE_NORMAL) remain under significant pressure. The patch ensures that zone_reclaimable_pages() includes free pages (NR_FREE_PAGES) in its calculation when no other reclaimable pages are available (e.g., file-backed or anonymous pages). This change prevents zones like ZONE_DMA32, which have sufficient free pages, from being mistakenly deemed unreclaimable. By doing so, the patch ensures proper node balancing, avoids masking pressure on other zones like ZONE_NORMAL, and prevents infinite loops in throttle_direct_reclaim() caused by allow_direct_reclaim(pgdat) repeatedly returning false. The kernel hangs due to a task stuck in throttle_direct_reclaim(), caused by a node being incorrectly deemed balanced despite pressure in certain zones, such as ZONE_NORMAL. This issue arises from zone_reclaimable_pages() returning 0 for zones without reclaimable file- backed or anonymous pages, causing zones like ZONE_DMA32 with sufficient free pages to be skipped. The lack of swap or reclaimable pages results in ZONE_DMA32 being ignored during reclaim, masking pressure in other zones. Consequently, pgdat->kswapd_failures remains 0 in balance_pgdat(), preventing fallback mechanisms in allow_direct_reclaim() from being triggered, leading to an infinite loop in throttle_direct_reclaim(). This patch modifies zone_reclaimable_pages() to account for free pages (NR_FREE_PAGES) when no other reclaimable pages exist. This ensures zones with sufficient free pages are not skipped, enabling proper balancing and reclaim behavior.
