Struggling to get this to work

Hi, looking for some help and advice on what I must be doing wrong as I can not get this to work. it appears as if I'm not getting anything from the inverter to the server. I am receiving from the data-logger as you can see highlighted here but all other values remain at 0.

I have checked the connections with a multi meter and I have a good connection from pin to wave share and all connections match as per the diagrams on this article.

When putting all together the datalogger stick gives up after a while and no activity is seen on the server activity light. I have swapped the config between the two wave share devices and the issue and behaviour remains the same (RXD moves to other device)

Inverter - RHI-6K-48ES-5G
datalogger - S3-Wifi-ST
WaveShare Firmware - V1.486

I have only two things in mind:

1. Have you checked the config on your inverter? Is it also a 9600 baud rate? Never found it at a different speed to work with this data logger but knowing Solis it could be anything.

2. Try swapping RS485 lines on your TCP Server that is wired to your inverter as it could be wrong at one end.

Thanks for coming back.

1. yep checked this and even changed it to 19200 previously to see if that was the issue but still no luck.
   

2. Swapped again but nothing changes.

Do you think it is possible the Waveshare devices are at fault? They are quite close in Id numbers, perhaps a dodgy batch?

@godleystuff Can you share the photo of both fronts of Waveshare devices? I need to see what LEDs look like.

Sure, please ignore the works client and server as these have been swapped around. The 210 and 211 are correct for each device.

Following your comment, I am not sure which one is which in your photos. However, it's usually the Server that has a solid blue link led.

If your data logger is working when connected directly to your inverter, I would double-check the cabling between the inverter plug and your TCP Server Waveshare device.

Try connecting your HA integration with the TCP Server first before connecting your data logger via the TCP Client Waveshare.

It's highly unlikely that both Waveshares are faulty.

My apologies, badly written comment. The one labeled 210 client is in fact the server now and the one labeled 211 server is the client. Data logger works perfectly when directly connected to the inverter so I will double check the connections and try the HA integration first and let you know. Thanks for your help

ok good news its working!

So I took the client out of the network completely, double checked the wires for the server and turned it on, then popped into HA and configured the Solar X modbus integration and it started working. left it for a few mins to collect data and make sure it was stable.

I then reconnected the client and that remained in a non functioning state. so double checked the cables and even though I was receiving there were the wrong way round. swapped them and still nothing. so restarted the device from the software and it started working perfectly.

Originally the cables were in the correct way (or maybe there were not) but in my troubleshooting I've been pulling bits out here there and everywhere so I've clearly put them back wrong after checking bits.

Now to get on with the HA bits and try some automation of battery charging now winter is coming.

I would be really interested to hear/see your steps to getting automations via HA set up.

What I'm really after is for someone to make a video of this all going together. It seems I'm a visual learner and just can't fathom how to get this working at this point. I've bought all the equipment, just need to get a start on it.
