what

  • added lifecycle ignore_changes to ami in main.tf

why

  • As we are replacing AMIs or Amazon are deleting AMIs, we need to ignore the change of these so that an apply doesn't attempt to replace the instance if the AMI has changed.
  • We will need to manually taint instances if we want to replace them.
