Cannot run MapleLegends with correct fonts or HD resolution #1414

Try EDIT: ah you already tried that? What was the result before and after? |
Provide system info and elaborate on semi-working |
Just in-case a ninja edit gets missed this is with Wine 4.02. I'm attempting to build 4.19 now just in-case. |
No change in how fonts appeared. |

Fixes Winetricks#1414 Made on demand originally created for MacOS Signed-off-by: Jacob Hrbek <kreyren@rixotstudio.cz>
What makes you think that? |
Still getting the logs.
Doesn't run when attempting to launch without them, I can put that into the logs too. |
I need logs prior to making an workaround in winetricks for that. If these libraries are needed then we need a winebug since those should be implemented in wine (if not present already) Edit: typo |
Attempting to run without those DLLs in place: Using:
(specifying that as I might try X11 later)
Some dump in my log file after I CTRL+Cd
|
Game actually opens when placing those two DLLs into system32
|
You didn't provide any log.. your workarounds are now irelevant since i need to know what the baseline is so i just need you to get referenced commit and invoke Rest of the provided is noted. |
I don't have any reference to understand what the dump means so no need to sent them atm. |
This is not a support forum, nor a winetricks issue. Please use the wine forums for user support. |
@austin987 I was told to open this issue by @Kreyren |
True, because i find this as an effective way to develop installers for winetricks and report issues to appropriate channels for permanent fix. I think that austin just complains about inbox spam.. i will transfer future issues in kreytricks and once the installer is made i push it in winetricks.
Winetricks is a great tool for these kinds of issues.. |
@Kreyren I'm not only upset about the literal dozens of notifications I get daily, but moreso your habit of trying to speak for the project and drive it in a direction you speak, and encouraging others to do so. This is your last warning, your actions are not helpful as is. Other contributors have also raised concerns, and I won't hesitate to act if this keeps up. Seriously, stop the spam, and/or keep it in your fork. |
I'm confused then as i understand it that's how the project is presented since it has dozens of functions that makes wineapps configuration for wineprefix including categories for games, applications, etc.. Thus reasoning for me to encourage this and contribute since i wanted to add more wineapps compatibility with references on permanent fix in wine.. i don't really want to mess with your maintainance, but if current winetricks is meant to be used for workarounds only you should probably remove these and change the way the project is presented so that others woudn't waste their time trying to contribute these.. EDIT
This is the first time you are telling me this, don't blame that on me, there is no |
@tsujp on @austin987's request please make this issue in https://github.com/Kreytricks/kreytricks/issues we will continue with the #1415 there |
I've had to add your user account to my Github block list... Something I've never had to do before. It should be common sense that spamming a main repository, daily, with lots of trivial changes, from a fork, is not a good idea. You should be doing the changes and testing (including Travis CI) in the forked repository - squashing commits that don't work/ are dead ends - before opening a Pull request. Bob |
That's how i started making merge requests in winetricks, but assuming complexity of wine and variables from different systems (which even on bedrock with custom stratas for winetricks testing and farm full of linux systems i'm unable to reproduce fully) i started making draft requests since there are people that are testing the commits for me based on which i'm making the changes for non-draft merge request which wasn't previously possible in a fork (is possible today since i made it standalone) where making the issues this way gets me the required feedback for me to make something that won't fail on runtime on any system.. Meaning no offense my merge requests are more complicated then bumping dxvk/d9vk so i tried to develop some self-QA, but i didn't know that github spams for every comment and commit that is done on draft so i'm currently trying to adapt workflow for it (so that i woudn't spam you). EDIT: I still dont understand what merge requests are expected for winetricks when diagnosing games this way is not appreciated.. |

I am trying to run the latest release from MapleLegends which can be found here: https://maplelegends.com/download (at the time of this issue,
MapleLegends2019Nov3Rev4.exe
).I can get a semi-working version working with wine and winetricks but fonts do not render correctly (no bold font names for guilds, and other text has artifacting). Additionally, I can run the client when the widescreen configuration is set to
true
– it refuses to launch when being run.I'm not well versed in Wine so this is a bit beyond me at the moment.
Here's what I am running to reach the stage I have thus far:
This also requires two custom DLL files placed into
system32
