Do images reload?

First off, great work! This makes the touchbar actually useful for me.
How do I update the image? (weather icon for a custom script, thumbs up rating for a song (indicating state of liking a song) etc.)
When the refresh interval is hit, it appears that that I can update the title of a button but not the image. Is that correct?

I can update the image if I use emoji but I'm limited to emojis and I'd prefer to use other images.
