Blackstone Shales

The Blackstone Shales are the sister biome to that of the Basalt Deltas. Just as the Basalt Deltas represent a hostile territory full of valuable basalt stone, the Blackstone Shales are home to hostile mobs, precarious pools of lava, and rich blackstone.

The surface of the Blackstone Shales is a unique marbled pattern of soul sand, blackstone, and soul soil seen in no biome before it. The iconic feature of the Blackstone Shales are its namesake the blackstone shales. These massive structures range from ten to twenty blocks tall and are large scale like rock formations that protrude from the surface at intense angles. In the lava these structures become even larger, and more bountiful; however, they are significantly riskier to excavate.
