Subject: Re: [Stellarium/stellarium] Reference point directly above (Discussion #4066)
The point directly above you is called the zenith.
You can visualize it as intersection of the azimuth or 'vertical' lines (azimuthal grid, Z hotkey) and/or activating the point itself in the view/markings menu. When you click on the object, the info text will also tell you its altitude. The closer to 90° it is, the higher it is (90° being the obvious max.).

In Stellarium how can I tell if a celestial object such as the moon is directly over the position as if view from the horizon and looking straight up into the sky so that the point is directly above the most right angle to the surface of the earth. Obviously, I know the earth is round, but not sure the terminology here so trying to get an idea of how to find any object in the sky to see if that object is directly in a position such that I'm standing on earth and would have to look directly straight up to see such object. Think of something falling from the sky and landing directly on you. That is the position I'm trying to determine. Also, feel free to educate me on the terminology as I'm not sure what position would be called.
