What is required to make a compact model of a component, such as a directional coupler, y-branch, etc?

S-Parameter models

• We need to ensure that we obtain the correct optical phase shift through a circuit. By convention, the waveguide ends at the mid-point of the pin. Thus, place the DevRec edge at this mid-point; similarly for FDTD simulations, define your sources and expansion monitors to be on these same edges.
