Page size and Portrait/Landscape

Hello-

First, I'd like to say thank you to the author of this software. It's really, the best tool for structural calcs.

I'd like to know how I can change the page size within a set of calcs. I'd like to add a large figure as shown below. I have been using the

tag, but not sure if this is the correct the page size.

You can see below how the page size didn't change.

This is really not a big deal, but I wanted to know if this is possible.

Hi!

Calcpad's HTML template limits output width to 190 mm. Maybe this is the problem, I'm not sure. You can try to add this to your document:

'<style>body{max-width: 9in;}</style>

The wkhtmltopdf command has a --orientation Landscape option that can be used to generate PDFs with rotated page layouts. I have no idea how it works with .docx file exports, though, since I'm usually interested in PDF generation.

And no. There isn't an official way to control wkhtmltopdf from Calcpad. You can edit the source code and rebuild the program to get what you want, though. Anyway, another option is saving the HTML and running the wkhtmltopdf command manually.

No, I don't think it worked, please see below. I don't know if you see anything that can be improved below: I changed my template file, and I did a simple test in CalcPad, and it seems like landscape format is not working using this approach. Even using max-width as 9in in both pages would produce landscape pages.

Again, this is not important. I can make thing work on my side. The important point is CalcPad helped me a lot by being a worksheet / word processor combination, and being able to use the html tools (which I'm still learning).

I don't think those width: 9in; or height: 8.5in; you put in your template will help with your problem.

And you can only use the '<style>body{max-width: 9in;}</style> once in your document. It will change the whole HTML output every time you use it. You won't be able to rotate a single page either. Using wkhtmltopdf you can have only a portrait or a landscape page orientation, but not a combination of them.

By default, the PDF conversion is done by the command:

wkhtmltopdf.exe --enable-local-file-access --disable-smart-shrinking --page-size A4 --margin-bottom 15 --margin-left 15 --margin-right 10 --margin-top 15 --encoding 'utf-8' YOUR_HTML_FILE.html YOUR_PDF_FILE.pdf

You could try to run wkhtmltopdf manually with your HTML output files changing the --page-size option to Letter and including the --orientation Landscape option. But, again, all pages will be in landscape mode.

Hi!

Try to print it to Pdf through the Print command. First, you need to install some Pdf printer like CutePdf Writer: https://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp

The print command will allow you to set paper size and orientation. In the next version, I will place the WkHtml2Pdf call into a batch file and make Calcpad to run the batch file. By nodifying the file, you can change the parameters.

In future versions, we can make an Export options dialog that will allow customing the Pdf options in a nice and user friendly way similar to print options.

Thank you, an eventual development of an export batch file would be very useful.

as we mentioned before, this is not a high priority ask. We find the program very well developed and we hope it can become an important tool for structural calculations as is. we are working with a group of people developing some academic documents and you may see some new users soon.

BTW, why not just rotate the image 90 deg and it will print in landscape even without bothering to change the paper.
