Hello,

I'm sorry but an open source project can't be owned by one company. You have to ask for the agreement of all contributors.

Thanks in advance

There is the usual confusion here from management between the company name and the software name:
In this case, Prestashop is a software.

While you can add "a Fortidia company" on the PrestaShop company website and other corporate branding assets, you can not add "a Fortidia company" to a software.

Try "a Fortidia product" or something like that. I am sure that the legal team will sort that out well once they figure out the problem.

BTW, if you want to change the copyright in the sources, here's an idea: "PrestaShop SA (a Fortidia company) and contributors

to be more accurate:
this website is the website of the software project, not the website of the company.

you can change the copyright on the bottom right and add "PrestaShop SA, a Fortidia company"

An open source project belongs to all contributors. PrestaShop SA is a contributor like other individuals and companies.
prestashop-project.org website is about the software, not about the company.

Thank you for your vigilance. The logo will be changed to the old one in a moment. The decision to change the logo should not have happened on this page.

Just for the sake of clarifying,

Do you mean that according to you

  • "PrestaShop, a Fortidia product" is OK
  • "PrestaShop, a Fortidia company" is not OK?

Bottom right of the website, the copyright line.
Example:

“PrestaShop” and the PrestaShop logos are international trademarks of PrestaShop SA, a Fortidia company.

I proposed "Prestashop, a Fortidia product" just as a quick example, asking Kristian to ask legal to figure out. But please remember this is a project, not a product. My mistake, sorry for that.

PrestaShop, the name and the logo, are shared between the project name, the brand of the distributed software, the name of the company, and the general trade sign, creating this confusion (but that, everybody knows already for years, sorry to remind it once again).

TLDR: PrestaShop and the logo are trademarks registered by PrestaShop SA, now Fortidia company.

Solution: change the name of the company and keep the trademark only for the software. Like big and serious companies are doing with their IP.
