Our session consists of two parts: first a short 20’ demo on Chayn and our Soul Medicine project: “empowering women experiencing violence and oppression by making learning more accessible to them = micro-courses delivered via social platforms.” We’ll talk about how we came up with the idea, our focus on refugee women and women, the research we’ve done so far and the application we have build. The most substantial part of the session consist of an interactive exercise: we present different kinds of courses we currently have and provide full personas, next the participants break down the courses into bite-sized information based on the personas. Participants take complex, web based technical subject matter and make it easy to understand.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
We hope the participants gain a greater understanding of the benefits of bite-sized learning and how delivering relevant information in an efficient way through the internet can really transform the lives of vulnerable people, making them more independent, confident and resourceful. We also hope that the interactive exercise enhances their confidence in breaking down new information and challenges into thin slices and addressing learning objectives one by one. From our side we aim to gain new insight by the participants feedback, questions and group discussion. We would like to have the feedback from the wider MozFest community as its diverse in cultures, experiences and personalities so we are making sure that Soul Medicine is inclusive.
If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.
We would only need some large sheets of paper, say A3, post its and markers/pens.
Time needed
90 mins

@chaynHQ Congratulations! We are very happy to announce that we have accepted your session at the festival this year! We will be in touch with additional information in the coming weeks.
Hi @chaynHQ , my name is Kasia and I work on Mozilla’s Internet Health Report. At Mozfest we will be present with an “Internet Research Hub”#618 (last comment) - an easy-going, cozy space for discussions and networking both with us about Internet Health and among researchers themselves.
We also invite anyone who does work in an Internet research field to sign up and present their work at a couple of open display tables we will have in the hub. If you would like to present something in the Hub in addition to your official session, let me know! We will promote these sessions throughout the festival. You can sign up spontaneously with pen and paper on site or if you would like to save a spot beforehand, drop me an email at kasia@mozillafoundation.org with a short description of the session.
In any case, I would like to invite you to pass by the hub and say hi. We will start with an informal "Research and coffee grinder” get-together at the beginning of the festival where people can get to know each other. Space and exact schedule for the Hub are still being decided and I will update you once we know the details. Hope to see you there!
