Internet Health Gallery #421
Comments
Hi @georgiamoon! Thank you for submitting this proposal! I see that some of it is a placeholder. Have you moved forwards with the discussions? I'm helping to curate the open innovation space and it would be great to know more about where you're at. So sorry if this information has been communicated but I've missed it - lots of people are on holiday 🌴 😄 |
hi @KirstieJane ! I've been talking with Solana and Kasia (not sure of their github handles) about the idea of an Internet Health Hub, so I think that will come together, and might be mergeable with what they are pulling together? Not sure of the status exactly! |
Hi @georgiamoon, @Solanasaurus, @brettgaylor & @bunnybooboo! Open Innovation would be delighted to accept this proposal, but I'm confused about whether it's different to #615 or not? It doesn't have to be in our space if it's already going to be featured in Privacy & Security, but we'd be very happy for it to be a gallery in Open Innovation. What do you think? |
@KirstieJane this is up for discussion today |
@Saallen @Solanasaurus @brettgaylor @georgiamoon is this a pan-space issue? #615 is my final blocker before locking down the P&S schedule. It's accepted in principle, but current generic form has me hesitant when it blocks more targeted P&S content. |
Hey jumping in here- as far as I am aware from previous conversations- this is more of an installation- set up on the Friday and left for guests to interact with all weekend- so just wall space and in compliment to #615 |
Actually, I think we could merge this with #618 which will be rewritten as an "Internet Research Hub" and will include @georgiamoon and others. @kaodro |
what about #615- move too or stay in P&S floor? @Solanasaurus |
#615 could be anywhere, the topic selected was random because we didn't know what to pick for pan-issue. I did still want to have a publicly scheduled brainstorm (around a table?) with people about what they would like to see in the report, but we could also do it in the hub space. |
@KirstieJane are you ok with this session moving out of your space?? |
Hi @Saallen @erikao @Solanasaurus @georgiamoon - very happy for this to be in whichever space makes most sense. I'm not going to remove the milestone just in case you accidentally get rejected, but please reassign to whichever label makes most sense! Very excited about the installation ✨ |
hello Digital inclusion team @sedgwickkm @kenyatta1 @XtianBerrisoup - as you are secondary label here, you get first refusal- would you like this session in your space or can I take it? |

Hi @marcwalsh - I chatted with @georgiamoon on Friday and we decided that this session is best merged with #615. Please could you therefore close this issue. I've already removed it from the guidebook. Thank you!! ✨ |
Closing as merged with #615 ... |

What will happen in your session?
Measurement Lab would like to work with the Internet Health Report team to create an interactive gallery space around internet health data. The M-Lab team will prepare an interactive data exploration for MozFest attendees to explore and contribute information about their experience on the internet, to engage participants in the issues around infrastructure, access, and additional pillars from the Internet Health Report, depending on what the team wants to add. This proposal is meant as a placeholder so that we can expand with Kasia & Solana.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
Engage MozFest participants in data about the health of the internet. Allow for participants to contribute to the gallery space through some interactive engagement, and explore other participants submissions. We may also have some scheduled time in our gallery space to work with participants to build raspberry pi internet testing probes, which people could them take home and set to run tests regularly and contribute to the open data on internet health.
If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.
We may need a project or screens for the gallery space. I can update this later this week with information about what we'd expect to need.
Office supplied, I think we will need push pins, pens, post-its and cardboard boxes.
For the internet testing devices (mini session idea in the gallery space), we could bring some devices, but we'd be interested in partnering in some way to have devices that people could take home with them, or potentially having a prize of some sort for who can take home some of the devices we bring.
Time needed
All weekend, as an installation, exhibit or drop-in session
