Starting with version 1.6.0 and above MobileOrg in the App Store is technically a 'new' app, meaning upgrades are not supported on the device. This can cause some issues, so here are some general troubleshooting steps.

Issue: Unable to Sync

If you are seeing an 'Unable to Sync' error please try the following steps:

  1. Uninstall MobileOrg from your device and delete it from your iTunes Apps.
  2. Delete the App from your authorized apps in Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/account#applications
  3. In your .emacs, change the value of org-mobile-directory to "~/Dropbox/Apps/MobileOrg", and reevaluate it (on the same line, type C-e, then C-x C-e).
  4. Inside your ~/Dropbox folder, delete the MobileOrg folder. If you have a ~/Dropbox/Apps/MobileOrg folder, delete the MobileOrg folder there too. (Of course, don't delete the Apps folder if you use other apps in your Dropbox!) This is important. Old MobileOrg folders/files must be removed from your Dropbox folder before you resync/restage your org files.
  5. Reinstall MobileOrg from the App Store.
  6. Link and authorize the app for your Dropbox account. This is done from the app, under Settings > Link Dropbox. This step will automatically create the ~/Dropbox/Apps/MobileOrg folder. Note: this is much easier if you have Dropbox installed on your iOS device.
  7. Re-stage your org files, from Emacs on your computer, using M-x org-mobile-push. If Dropbox is running on your computer, it will immediately sync your org files with your account.
  8. Sync your files from the MobileOrg application on your phone. Make sure that if you are using encryption for your files you have set the correct password in the Encryption section of MobileOrg settings.
