Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
It's unlikely enough that I can pretty confidently say that No, you won't get banned for using BO3MacFix.
Treyarch haven't been issuing anti-cheat bans on BO3 for a long time, and Valve Anti-Cheat does not care about anything on any game on any platform, let alone BO3 on Mac.
Short answer: People can crash your game. Stay off public matches, and set a network password for you and your friends in your launch arguments. The Installing BO3MacFix guide tells you how to do this.
Long answer: No, it isn't safe in public lobbies. The Mac version of BO3 is behind on updates and hasn't been updated to fix a lot of the crashing issues fixed in the PC version. That being said, BO3MacFix makes an attempt at fixing the most egregious flaws and I'm always working to add more fixes.
If you're playing with friends, use a network password and tell your friends to use the same password as you, on BO3MacFix or t7patch, and STAY OUT OF PUBLIC MATCHES!
If you're worried about being DDoSed/"booted offline" because you're high profile or made an enemy, use a VPN, and maybe an alt Steam account (using family sharing).
Yes, set the network password in your launch arguments to be something completely random and you'll be fine.
Most custom maps, except those with extensive scripting, should work, however a lot of mods (such as TF's Zombies Options and other menu mods) will crash or softlock.
If you have any issues with custom maps or mods, report them in the issues tab of this repo, please don't pester the mod creators. This Mac port lowkey sucks to develop for.
Follow the instructions in the Installing BO3MacFix guide.
Report them in the issues tab - please include your macOS version, which model Mac you're using, and the name and link to any workshop mods you were using at the time of the crash. A generated crash report will be very useful - you can open Console.app from the Applications/Utilities folder on your Mac, select "Crash Reports" on the sidebar, select the latest "CoDBlkOps3_Exe" report, right click and "Reveal in Finder", then upload the highlighted .ips file in your issue report.
If you were in a public multiplayer match, or you think the crash might've been targeted at you as an exploit attempt, please reach out to me instead of posting the crash report in the issue tracker.
