Plans for the next version

This issue is pinned and will inform about what it planned for the next version. Note that planned means I will work on it, but it might not yield a result.
It will be updated regularly, at least on a new release.

Planned for v3.0:

• new settings (mostly done, will need longer alpha test phase)
• merge (some of) the open keyboard layout PRs
• add .com popups fir period key in URL fields
• maybe a few more bug fixes

Then it's time for features (note that this list has been there for a while, implementing will take some time):

• improve support for alt/ctrl/fn keys (some sort of locking)
• optionally extend the shift-to-change-caps-state to touched word, not just selected text
• improve swipe gestures
  • at very least for delete key, where behavior for delete swipe should be customizable
  • ideally make the swipe system more flexible in general, for future expansion (Improve key swipe interface #962)
    • possibly parts of Swipe up on letter key for uppercase variant #510, Swiping to trigger actions #532 and Swipeable symbol keys #636 could be attempted, it might be relatively little work

Note that I do have significantly less time than before release of 1.0, so development is not as fast paced any more.
(due to lower amount of time on my side, and significantly increased activity in this repository)
