This can be used to get less cryptic error/warnings from GCC when dealing with something typesafe container related.

A couple of thoughts: could the comment at the top of the file, or maybe the dev doc, have a couple of lines about how to use this? Like, "if you have problem X, you can try these steps to help debug... "

I'm genuinely unsure what to add there that I haven't already written, do you have any suggestions? (Probably a case of being blind to things because I wrote it)
