Abstract: "The bachelor thesis “Microblogging in the Information Sciences – Quantitative Investigations of Exemplary Communities on Twitter” can be understood as an initial survey on the distribution of the library and information science community on Twitter. It provides a possible methodical approach towards analysing the associated social network. The representation of the information sciences on the microblogging platform is examined with regards to actors as well as specific subdisciplines and topics."

The research data folder has been removed for reasons of personal users' data privacy and protection. However, in case you should be interested in it for own research purposes or to be able to reproduce the findings, you might still contact me.
Also, you can find more information on the research data and what role it played during the research process in chapter 3 of the bachelor thesis itself ("3. Methodik", page 16-28).
The scripts folder contains the following Python scripts:
- followers.py
- friends.py
- userdata.py

The visualizations folder contains visualizations of the gathered data on twitter users and their...
- geographic distribution
- interests - stated in the twitter "bio"
- connections between each other / networks
It also provides the data and files used for the creation of the visualization. As a network visualization tool I used Gephi.
