Azure IoT Edge C++ module not sending device to cloud telemetry

Hi All,
I am writing a custom C++ IoT Edge module. I have followed the code given in the standard boilerplate main.c file. At present my Init function looks like this

this function does not seems to give any error

my send message function is as follows

when I run the function I don't see any error message in the log. everything seems to be working fine. but the function never calls the "SendConfirmationCallback". also I don't see any device to cloud message

I do see the modules are running without any error in the azure portal

The route that I have used is as follows

FROM /messages/modules/MicroServer/outputs/output1 INTO $upstream

where MicroServer is the name of my module

I also do see that my module is appearing as disconnected in the IoT Hub

Can you please help and let me know what could be wrong with my code/configuration and why the module is not sending the data in the IoTHub?
