The Manage folders section can be accessed from the tab bar located at the bottom of the app. It allows you to do the following:

View folders in different storage mediums

The default view of the Manage folders section displays all the available storage mediums in your device - each of them categorised separately for easier access. It displays internal storage, memory cards, virtual disks, etc.

Add a root folder

Root folders are places in filesystem where the app stores tags data. You can backup these folders or synchronize using an app like Syncthing — opening these folders in ARK Navigator on other devices will result in the same tags
Adding put on your data. Root folders also serve the purpose of bookmarking places of interest and getting rid of system folders and random apps data. ARK Navigator scans root folders and displays their contents to you. The app also uses content-addressing, all tags data refers to resources by id, not by path. This means that you can move your files inside a root without losing tags attached to them. In order to add a root folder, just open the Manage folders section and press the Plus (+) button located at the bottom right corner of the screen.

Add a favorite folder

Adding a favorite folder is also similar to bookmarking a folder. It allows you to easily access the contents of a folder. You need to add a root folder to be able to add a favorite folder. There are two ways of adding a favorite folder. The first way is by clicking on the big "+" button, which adds folders. If the folder appears in subfolder of existing folder then it will add it as "favorite". The second way is by clicking on the small "+" button near the root folder in the list. By doing so, it will open the folder picker but you would already be in the selected root folder.

Root folder vs Favorite folder

You might wonder what's the difference between a root folder and a favorite folder then. The difference is that root folders are the parent folders and favorite folders are their child folders.

For example, let's say that you have a number of folders under your DCIM folder. You are interested in some of those subfolders and not so interested in some of the other folders.
