What's the advantage of jumping on a short-lived non-LTS version? Does this one provide any features that are needed for this tool?

What's the advantage of jumping on a short-lived non-LTS version? Does this one provide any features that are needed for this tool?

Really just to keep up with the latest version and avoid having multiple runtimes installed on production environments. I'll probably just make a fork, but thought I'd ask first.
