Understanding dither parameter

Hi,

I would like to know what dither parameter signifies. I have data from 1200 cells (of same cell-type) and I want to aggregate information across cells using knn

I would like to know how the dither parameters effects the knn algorithm. I used k=30 and default dither value. It seems that expression values of most of the cells did not got updated. As its same cell-type, I would not mind being less stringent while looking for neighbors.
