They break all mods completely with every new update. It is pathetic. I paid an insane amount of money for Anno1800 with all the DLC.
I am wondering when mods will be permanently not fixable. They say this is the LAST update for Anno1800. Is it the final break?

Just a few thoughts:

  • It is a company that, like any other, wants to make money first and foremost.
  • It is not a hobby project that happens to make money because it is good.
  • there i sno mod support, so mods are hacks, why should a company support the hacking of their software.

I am not judging if a company is nice or not, does not much matter, but Ubisoft is most definitely one of the least customer friendly, but agree they have a bottom line to consider, however.

  1. There seems to be misinformation out there, that mods are now supported, I have tried both recommendations found online to get the mods working again, but neither work, yes I understand it could be a user error, but I think that the message that A1800 now supports mods is at best inaccurate.

  2. I simply appreciate that a mod loader has been made available on GitHub, and while I would hope a new version is coming, I just want to say thank you. It has made my game experience awesome and has kept me playing, which leads me to my final point.

  3. It is mentioned that since Ubisoft does not support mods in A1800, these mods should be considered "hacks". I am not technical enough to get into an argument about this, call them hacks or mods, I could care less. But I know this, these "hacks" made my personal game experience better, and as such, I was inspired to purchase the many DLCs that were made available. I think it is logical to assume that others also extended their play time due to these mods.

I hope we see an updated mod loader here soon, but I also hope companies like Ubisoft understand that mods and those who take great efforts to create them are actually, in my humble opinion, good for business. I can name many games that are still on my PC because of the mods that have been available.
