Inline toolbar closing even though there's a selection

I have an inline toolbar set.
I select some text and the toolbar appears (good.)
I select Bold from the toolbar: the selection is bolded and the toolbar disappears.
The previous selection is still selected but the toolbar is gone.
To get the toolbar to reappear I needed to reselect the current selection (not good.)

If I want to set the selection to, say, bold, italic, center align, and 32px, I need to reselect the same text four times.

Is there a way to either keep the toolbar open if there's currently a selection or to auto-open the toolbar if there's currently a selection?
