Given Android does and iOS does in the EU (in theory) allow third party engines, and these platforms are a massive portion of web traffic I would personally say accurate mappings for these platforms are necessary. Other devices are less likely to have third-party browser engines so accurate mappings aren't as vital (the OS vendor also works on the browser so can ensure it works correctly).
back in 2018, w3c/html-aam#131 was filed to suggest we add mapping tables for Android.
that seems reasonable, but we need someone from Andriod to provide us / do this work.
But, not just android, there are other platforms which HTML aam should potentially consider:
