What happened?

Hello.

All Hiren's BootCD PE versions don't boot in a Packard Bell EasyNote MH36 (Board PE2L LX.B200Y.014, BIOS Phoenix PBPE2L0N.P07 12/22/2008, RAM 4 GB, Pentium Dual Core T4200). Ventoy launches but when you select to boot any of them it keeps the cursor blinking and nothing more.

This is an old 64 bit notebook, without UEFI and only can boot in legacy mode. Using Rufus, Hiren's 1.0.2 and 1.0.8 boot fine in there.

I tested the exact same pendrive in other computers, all with UEFI, and all Hiren's tested boot in legacy and UEFI modes.

Tested:

  • Two different pendrives (takeMS Flashdisk, PNY USB 2.0).
  • All Hiren's BootCD PE versions available (1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.0.8 and Beta).
  • Both Normal boot (Infinite blinking cursor) and wim boot (try to load all in memory but fails creating the virtual drive).
  • Both 1.0.2 and 1.0.8 work with Rufus in that computer.
  • In other computers (all with UEFI), the pendrives work in UEFI and Legacy mode.
  • Using exFAT (default) and FAT32, without any changes.

Not Tested:

  • Other WinPE distributions (I don't know other ones that aren't behind a paywall and they don't look shady).

Thanks.
