I have a use case where I need to detect if something is a UUID or some other string, I know this is just a regex, but would be cool if this package just provided this.

@xenoterracide we have just released uuid@8.3.0-beta.0 which includes https://github.com/uuidjs/uuid#uuidvalidatestr would you mind testing it and report if that works for you?
