We should clearly provide the information to end-users how to install ownCloud desktop client and set it up with CERNBox.

AFAIK this should be:

Where to put it? I don't know yet :)

Andrea (GARR) has reported:

I have tested, a few minutes ago, owncloud desktop client with Cernbox and had this error back: Error transferring https://cernbox.test.up2university.eu/cernbox/desktop/remote.php/webdav/eos/docker - server replied: Method Not Allowed. But I know you are still working on it, so it may be normal.

It might be related to the lack of instructions (skipping directory configuration?).

The question appears - would it be possible to not require users to skip the default directoy configuration in the desktop client?

Possible problem: authentication to the desktop client vs. SSO? I should rather not be asked to enter my Gmail password to the desktop client.

Closing as this is a high-level problem.

I think we should clarify if we allow Up2U users to use a desktop client. I think it is needed.

We will look into this when we have the updated version of science box. We might change the way we authenticate in the client.

With the updated version of CERNBox we provide oAuth for authentication. When you point to the url you mentioned (https://cernbox.test.up2university.eu/cernbox/desktop), the client will open your browser for you to login (passing through the SSO).

I will update the documentation in http://cernbox-up2u.web.cern.ch
