Lutris has a menu option to Create desktop shortcut. When launching games through Lutris with the Wine runner, there is a small amount of visual feedback because the Play button will become a Stop button. When launching through a desktop shortcut there is no feedback.
When in KDE, launching applications usually gives visual feedback in the form of a bouncing icon next to the mouse cursor.
What did you expect to happen?
I expected to see some visual feedback when launching a game from a desktop shortcut. As it is I was unsure that I had double-clicked properly, while waiting seconds for the game to appear.
If the bouncing icon can't be done, maybe some other effect can be enabled for desktop icons in KDE.
This is probably because of the way Lutris games get launched with the desktop shortcuts, spawning a process in the background instead of foreground, therefore KDE plasma can't keep track of the process in order to display the cursor animation.
Not a bug per se, rather this is just a limitation of KDE plasma.
We aim to be to keep a low maintenance cost/not over engineering, in order to keep the project accessible and not overwhelm new contributors.
So with that in mind, I would be interested in hearing the possible solutions, but my gut feeling is telling me it would involve patching packages or scripts (which would be too much of a chore), hope I can be proven wrong.
