Hey, I appreciate the comment. I've stopped working on this because I was having doubts that implementing more of Ledger in TypeScript was the best path forward. It's a pretty complex piece of software, and porting it isn't really where my interests lie.

I'm still using it personally for inputting my expenses into my ledger file, but I don't really use the charts and I use external tools for reconciliation and reporting.

For now I'm going to leave this progress on hold until a more clear path presents itself. I think there could be a market for a non-obsidian based cross-platform ledger UI. But it's very much a niche market.

Thanks for explaining what you're thinking. I'm guessing Obsidian is restrictive about what you can put in a plug-in. What technology might you use for a cross-platform UI?

You can edit the underlying text file directly and remove all of the default content. Click the pencil icon to see the text view.

I love that this exists. I'm an Obsidian user and I imagined the union of Obsidian and PTA five minutes ago and DDG found it for me :)

Hey Tony, really happy to have found this plugin and would love to support its continued development. At the moment, I'm unable to add a transaction at all. After filling up all the fields and clicking "submit", the transaction isn't recorded in ledger and the Assets Account field still displays "Assets:Banking:Bank Of America and Liabilities:Chase" as the default option even though I've already added my own accounts in the Markdown editor. Could you help me with this?

Found the problem. I had initially moved the ledger file to my Finances folder and my suspicion is that the ledger file has to be kept in its default location in order to work properly. Also discovered another bug where the daily time period keeps resetting to 05/12/2022 with an error message saying "Exceeded maximum time window. Adjusting end date"

I'd open this as a bug report but seeing as development has stagnated, I'm wondering if there are any plans at all to continue development this year.

Hey Tony, Great plugin it's awesome actually but I am a little confused about the view, I'll explain my use case and help me to figure out how to set it up perfectly if you are available.
So basically I have several bank accounts and also credit cards. Banks though ill add in assets that's fine what about credit cards currently credit option is under liabilities when I enter the current due it's adding up under the total balances that not correct right, Help me if I am wrong. The credit card should start from zero and should whenever expense is added with credit it should move up and it should add to the total balance rather than subtract if needed think.

I wish there is a section for credit cards too.. that also takes the outstanding dates and bill due dates just as reminder. Also, a description field for expenses would be awesome.

Hey This is an awesome plugin it's a pity you can't continue development but hey I understand.

But I do have a question, is there any way I can create a second ledger alongside the first, my problem is I have to deal with two different currencies and have to deal with exchange rates. if anyone has any ideas please comment.

I agree ! Being able to switch beetwin currencies would be a huge improvment !

Did someone find a way to use Ledger queries in obsidian using this plugin such as
$ ledger -M register -f drewr3.dat expenses:auto ?
I discovered Ledger because of this plugin and I don't want to deal with another software outside obsidian. The queries will be very helpfull
