What happened?

I have been running the OpenDTU for about 2 years. The system is currently running on an ESP32-D0WD with version v25.2.3.
The system has run flawlessly for years. For about 1-2 months now, the DTU has been freezing every 1-2 days. As a result, the display still shows values, but the system is no longer visible on the network and can no longer be pinged.
Only after a boot process does everything work again. How can I isolate or rectify this?

  • I believe this issue is a bug that affects all users of OpenDTU, not something specific to my installation.
  • I have already searched for relevant existing issues and discussions before opening this report.
  • I have updated the title field above with a concise description.
  • I have double checked that my inverter does not contain a W in the model name (like HMS-xxxW) as they are not supported.

I have a similar problem since sometime around second half of last year. Currently I am testing different old versions to pin down which introduced the bug, but since it takes some time for the bug to occur it takes quite some time.

The same here, especially after a restart. Once it runs, it keeps running throughout the day. ESP32-D0WD-V3, self-compiled, commit a07a027, debugging not possible: "binary too large".
