What happened?

Exactly what the title says. Backup without attachments works in the android app but backup with the attachments doesn't work.

Steps to reproduce the problem

Try the backup with attachment feature.

Version

v3.0.27

Platform/OS

Android

Hi, do you see any error when creating a backup with attachments or does it keep loading?

A few updates back the backup with attachment will start and then close by itself with an error. However, in the latest app the backup doesn't even start. It just keeps loading..

Hey @Starship-Headlight Can you check whether the backup is created in your selected backup directory by using your Phone's file manager?

No. The backup is never created. Also I think backing up with attachments should be a background process with an option to terminate it from settings if needed. It takes a lot of time to back up with slow internet speed and sometimes we might need to cancel it too.

@ammarahm-ed I just tried the latest release of NN where it says the issue has been resolved. However, I am still facing this issue. While doing a backup with attachments, I see no progress bar indicating how much is done. Also there is no option to cancel it if needed. And it feels like the backup process just keeps on going for eternity. The screen just shows "Creating a full backup" and keeps loading. Nothing else. Another error is Error download the file:File Length is 0. Please upload the file again from attachment manager. (File has:some numbers). However, when I run the file check on attachment manager, everything is fine. I am afraid even after I am done creating a back (if that ever happens), the backup will not have all the attachments in it. This is a seriously problem. Please take another look at this. Thank you.

@ammarahm-ed Just tried the latest update v3.0.29. The backup is getting created, I can see the progress and I can even hide it (can't cancel it though). However, I am still getting the error Error download the file:File Length is 0. Please upload the file again from attachment manager. (File has: some numbers). When I go to the attachment manager, there is a ❗ icon in front of some attachments but when I run a file check, it comes out OK. Meaning the attachments have no issue. Do I need to run a check on all attachments before creating a note? BTW I installed the app fresh.

Some attachments that show error meaning they are corrupted or not properly uploaded, can you try downloading the attachments from attachment manager and checking whether they are there or not? @Starship-Headlight

Yes. I don't know how to check from file hash. However, I did try going to attachment manager. Downloading an attachment which had the ❗ icon in front of it and opening that attachment. I was successfully able to open the said attachment. So there shouldn't be any issue in that aspect. This error was still there in old version and it has persisted to the latest. If I am not wrong, other people are also facing it as I tried asking in the discord server a while ago. @ammarahm-ed
