I have created the IMS Toucan toolkit and extended its functionality for four years while doing my PhD. Now I am no longer employed at the University, but I plan to keep on maintaining and improving the toolkit.

The code, the models, and even a hosted instance on huggingface spaces is completely free to anyone. Text-to-Speech is a powerful tool that can be used for an incredible amount of applications, so I believe everyone should have access to such a system in their native language. While the system is nowhere near perfect, I believe we are moving in a good direction.
