Hey everyone, Chris here from Skeleton. You heard right, after 14 long months of blood, sweat, and tears, I'm thrilled to announce that the stable release of Skeleton v3 will arrive next week! Let's take a moment to review what this will entail.
Release Window
Given the scale and scope of changes, this may take a couple days to deliver, so we're not providing a hard date quite yet. As you may know, v3 represents the single largest update in the project's lifecycle. We're also taking this opportunity to do some much needed housekeeping and improve our internal deployment pipeline. There is no planned outage for the duration of launch, but we we do ask for your patience as this involves our small team making a large amount of changes in a very short time frame. I'm sure we'll hit a few bumps along the way!
What to Expect
Documentation
When Skeleton v3 launches, expect the website URLs to adjust to what's shown below. We encourage you to be proactive in updating your personal bookmarks, as we cannot promise that the
next
URL can or will direct to the production v3 site. For Skeleton v2 Users
If you're currently using Skeleton v2, you are more than welcome to continue to do so. Just note that starting today there will be no further maintenance releases and we begin closing all remaining v2 issues. Once Skeleton v3 is released, Skeleton v2 will be moved into an archived state. You can read full details on this here:
Optionally, we encourage early adopters to follow our migration guide and update to the latest release candidate version.
For Skeleton v3 RC1 Users (or earlier)
If you're still using a previous Skeleton pre-release version, such as Release Candidate 1 (RC1), we strongly encourage you migrate to RC2 as soon as possible. This will update you to the latest version that supports Tailwind v4, and provide a seamless transition to the full release.
For Skeleton v3 RC2 Users
If you're already on the latest Skeleton RC2 release, please ensure you're running the latest version of each peer dependency (such as Svelte and Tailwind v4). If you've done this, we anticipate no further breaking changes, but reserve the right to do so up until launch.
Remaining Issues
The team and I are currently working to handle triage, refinement, and polish between now and the full release. All priority issues between now and launch can be found here:
A number of low-priority issues that we plan to tackle post-launch can be found here:
If you are aware of any notable issue absent from these two milestones, then please report your issue promptly! Plain and simple, if your issue is not on logged on GitHub, it's not on our agenda to address!
Next Steps
Keep an eye out for the big announcement next week when the launch release is made available. This will cover all updates introduced in Skeleton v3, as well as any last minute information you need to know. Expect further updates to the Skeleton community as well, including:
