Hey, just a thought. It would be nice to have a separate Targeting Remote just for designating nuclear strike targets.
My use case: I have a central base with a perimeter guarded by regular artillery, fed by train stops. All atomic shells are in an artillery train I will drive around. But when I am near a regular artillery turret, and I designate a target, how do I know if an atomic shell or a regular one will hit?

I'll level with you, I'm not much of a modder when it comes to factorio, my knowledge of LUA and the factorio API is extremely limited and this project ended up being far more popular than I ever planned.
I'll mark it as help wanted, if anyone wants to implement this then that'd be great, worst case when I get some free time I'll sit down and give it a crack myself
I got the impression a separate remote (and even separate artillery-flares for targeting) will not help as long as everything uses the same ammo-category.
Then I thought about my play style and decided that the normal remote should prioritize an Atomic Artillery if one is in range. And one can force the Atomic Artillery to shoot by disabling all other (regular) artillery turrets for a short time. Here is my suggestion for that: https://github.com/mschuett/Factorio-AtomicArtilleryRemote -- Unfortunately this only seems to work for Turrets but not for Artillery Wagons.
(This is my first Lua project, so code quality might be quite low. Later on I would like to turn it into a pull request for this mod.)
