I tried different variants for path of the log dir
for example:
DOSLogDir "/var/log/mod_evasive"
DOSLogDir /var/log/apache2
etc.
but I don't see any log file

Same issue. Can't see any logs specified by DOSLogDir.

OS: Linux Mint 17 KDE

Same here... with Directadmin + Centos 7 + apache 2.4

If you look at the README it sounds like DOSLogDir is to specify the LOCKING dir, not a LOG dir and it seems to be used only when using the DOSSystemCommand directive.
