Avoid overhead

This is more a question than an issue...

I noticed that the plugin introduces a bit of overhead when the fallback is actually required. So in intensive js load it makes the loading a bit slower.

Therefore, is it possible to perform such work in background? So the other way around, something like:

1. By default, render the fallback
2. Try to load the actual image in background
